Kotryna Ula Kiliulyte
Kotryna Ula Kiliulyte is a Glasgow based Lithuanian artist. She studied at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Art and the Glasgow School of Art from which she graduated with the 1st class BA in Visual Communication (2008) and a Masters in Fine Art with distinction (2015).
Kotryna has exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently at Street Level Photoworks Glasgow, Stills Edinburgh, Cultural Communication Centre Klaipeda Lithuania, Kaunas Photography Gallery, Italian Cultural Institute London, PhotoUKIndia at British Council New Delhi and Meno Trentuno Young European Photography in Sardinia.
She is a recipient of the Lithuanian Culture Council Grant, Glasgow Visual Arts and Craft Award, Eaton Trust Fund and Ideastap Innovators Fund grants.
Kotryna works with photography, archives, moving image and installation, with themes ranging from nostalgia to politics, utopia and change, history and memory. Often referring to personal experiences of a migrant, as well as collapse of political systems, Kotryna makes works that combine poetic and critical approach.
Her work has been featured in Calvert Journal, BBC in pictures, Stereoscope Magazine, Scottish Society for the History of Photography website, Another Place magazine, OST SEE magazine, the Herald, the List, Photomonitor and Deep Baltic.
